Join us for a special evening of connection, education, and support at our Answers to Breast Cancer Lymphedema and Radiation Pain Event exclusively for Breast Connect members.
We’ve gathered a panel of local professionals to talk openly about lymphedema and radiation pain from what it is, to how it affects those diagnosed with breast cancer, and the tools, treatments, and resources that are available. We will cover lymphedema and pain therapies, as well as surgical and hyperbaric options.
Whether you’re newly diagnosed, living with lymphedema or pain, or simply looking to learn more, this event offers a space to ask questions, gain insights, and feel supported. It is also an opportunity to meet some sisters!
Meet Our Speakers
Dr. Stefanos Boukovalas is a plastic and reconstructive surgeon at the University of Tennessee Medical Center (UTMC). Born and raised in Athens, Greece, he earned his medical degree at the University of Athens School of Medicine and moved into a fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center. Since joining UTMC, he has led the development of the Comprehensive Lymphedema Service and is co-chair of the TN Chapter of the Lymphatic Education & Research Network. On the academic side, Dr. Boukovalas is involved in the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society of reconstructive Microsurgery.
Dr. Grant Clark is a radiation oncologist that serves as the Chair of the Covenant Oncology Committee and medical director for the Covenant Health Radiation Oncology Network downtown division. He completed his residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) and has been practicing here in Knoxville over the past 12 years. He is an active member of the Covenant breast tumor board and multidisciplinary clinic and clinic trials teams.
Surekha Fehr is a board-certified geriatric clinical specialist and a certified lymphedema specialist. A doctor of physical therapy for 18 years, she has worked for Benchmark Physical Therapy at North Peters in Knoxville, TN for the last 13 years. Diagnosed at the age of two with leukemia, she was treated at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and went into remission at age 7. As a cancer survivor, Surekha has a passion for treating and advocating for breast cancer patients. She feels very fortunate that her career has come full circle to where she is able to pay it forward by being able to help breast cancer patients every day. Surekha is married with two children and she enjoys spending time outdoors and reading.
Dr. Lindsey Harrell is a board-certified emergency medicine physician currently practicing hyperbaric medicine at Parkwest Medical Center. She earned her medical degree from the Quillen College of Medicine in Johnson City, Tennessee, and completed her emergency medicine residency at the University of Louisville in 1996. Since 2011, Dr. Harrell has focused on hyperbaric medicine, where she finds deep fulfillment in the unique challenges of pressure medicine and the life-changing improvements it brings to her patients.
